Why has Australia?
In general countries go to war to preserve extend or defend their land and ways of life. Other reasons include gaining access to new land or new economic resources, continuing or protecting religious beliefs and bringing an end to a political conflict.
There are limited resources in the world. Some nations have more plentiful access to wanted natural resources than others. Land is also a limited resource so countries seeking financial growth may attack other countries to seize land for its goods.
Religion has long been a cause of wars. Conflicts within a country often start based on different religious or ethical differences among the people with a nations boarders. The goal of each side is to often gain control of the government. Basically nations go to war to gain access to new lands, to gain access to economic resources and to defend themselves against alleged threats from other nations.

The main cause of Australia going into combat with other countries is because of the friendship between us and other countries like America and Britain. Many allied countries go into war together because they as partners usually want the same thing or want to just help their comrades.
